My dealer said the B 2710 will out work the L2500 when it comes to loader work?How can this be? The L 2500 is 500 pounds heaver with a manual transmision!

The L2500 is gear and the b2710 ONLY comes in hydro so that would give the edge to the B2710 for ease of use. The L2500 is an old style design that has lower ergonomics than the new B2710. ....

Sounds like your dealer is trying to sell you the higher priced tractor.I dont think it will "outwork" the L2500 by any stretch! How much time will you actually be on this tractor? If you say all day, then you can probably accomplish more with the hydro. But for normal use, whats the difference in a few seconds? Personnally, I have no use for a hydrostatic drive, but then again,I dont use my TRACTOR for a lawnmower! I get the impression by reading this forum, thateveryone's idea of a tractor is different than mine though. For field work, get the gear tranny. I think that people have gotten too lazy to appreciate the CONTROL of a manual transmission! Now that I've pissed off lots of folks, I'll end by saying its your choice. But that L2500 looks like the best tractor to me. Nike ....

I looked at both of them, and took the L2500 with loader. The hydro is a bit faster on back and forth movement, just push the peddle and with the 2500 you have to change gear. IF your working all day on it every day then it would make a differance, but if you use the loader like i do, ( I have a grounds and landscape service) The saving in time will not make up for the savings in cost and upkeep. The 2500 is bigger and will do more work with the 3 point. The loader is just one part of the tractor, I use 8 other things that hang off the back. Most of the time I have the loader off the tractor anyway so I dont have to haul it around. I also do some farm work with it, (very small, and just for fun) As the others said you will have to make up your own mind, but I hope this helps you out some.Rick Smithhttp://www.janrix.com/cgls ....

I have a B2710 with only 23 hours. I can't imagine having to shift and clutch to go back and forth when mowing, plus using the loader. The L2500 looks like a fine tractor, but I cannot equate it to the B2710 with the HST. What little extra yield you might get from the PTO with gear is probably imperceptable, but the thousands of times you change directions in the tractors lifetime will easily be perceptable. The only justification I can see for going with the L2500 is that it is a good buy - a fine tractor for less money.This opinion is on the basis of using the HST, and not having test driven the L2500. I have driven gear tractors tho, and really appreciate the HST. I considered a used L2350 (the predecessor to the 2500 I think) on the basis that I didn't need the HST. One test drive on the HST sold me and I didn't even drive the gear tractors. ....
